I thought you might like this photo…it’s my 8-year old son, Ian, teaching one of the neighborhood kids how to play “Smoke On The Water”.
Ian’s only been playing for a few months now, and he’s still very much a beginner, but here he is teaching his first guitar lesson. This just goes to illustrate my point that you don’t need to be an advanced guitar player to teach lessons…you only need to be one step ahead of your students.
I hope this inspires and motivates you to action. Come on…if an 8-year-old kid can do it, so can you! :)
And no, I didn’t stage this…he did it all on his own. Makes a daddy proud!

Just a quick follow-up to this post. The neighborhood friend went back and told his grandpa about the free guitar lesson, and the grandpa had Ian teach him, too! Word of mouth marketing is really powerful, ain’t it? :)
This was a good one! I gotta kick out of this. Your boy may have a career ahead of him!
Yeah, I think you’re right about that!
